I’m a slacker. I’ve been absolutely horrible at keeping the goals I’ve set for myself, both in writing and in other areas of my life. I’m working on changing, but it’s a tough fight against a lifetime being lazy.
I’m not about to give up. Sure, I might fail.
I may not hit the word count I want.
I may not keep the schedule I want.
I may not hit ANY of my goals.
But at least I’m in the arena.
Yes. Yes I should be a plotter.
I’ve designed and programmed multi-million dollar pieces of assembly equipment. Each and every project was planned out in excruciating detail.
I knew what the machines were going to do before they were built.
I knew what they looked like, down to every nut and air fitting.
I knew what they would cost to the penny before I ever wrote a purchase order.
I am a planner. And I’m damn good at it.

Writers tend to be cynical bastards. That’s to be expected, really. A writer tears his heart out and throws it down on the page, then gets to sit back and watch as critical readers dance the flamenco all over it. It’s enough to drive anyone a little nuts.
Despite the overt cynicism most famous authors are more than willing to share their writing tips with us aspiring writers. If you’re willing to wade through the sarcasm, that is.
The following is a compilation of advice from famous authors regarding the various stages of the writing process.
Today is the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy and the beginning of the end of World War II.
I don’t talk politics often. I find that, like so many of my opinions, there aren’t many people that agree. I end up looking like an asshole, which doesn’t really bother me but it can be a hassle sometimes. Then, there are times when I feel the need to break that rule.
God bless the troops, those that serve, those that have served, and those that will serve. Thank you for your sacrifice that I may continue to be free.
