Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
What better time to reflect on the things we’re thankful for?

In Outliers Malcolm Gladwell asserts that one of the keys to success is practice, practice, and more practice. He sets the metric at 10,000 hours, that after 10,000 hours of continuous practice you will see yourself become a master.
We’ve all got some area of our lives that we’d like to master, what’s yours?
Those of you that aren’t interested in another rant about getting shit done, I recommend you stop reading now. Seriously. There are a ton of other fluffy bunny blogs out there that will lift your spirits and make you smile.
Today, this isn’t one of them.
Today, I take a stand and commit to stop putting shit off and start getting shit done.
My wife and I are a fairly normal American family. And by “fairly normal” I really mean that we’re in debt up to our eyeballs.
According to the federal reserve the average U.S. household has:
When you owe someone money, whether it be banks or family members, you become a slave to them. It may be subtle, but they are calling the shots.
Recently my wife and I got tired of being slaves and decided to do something about it. And it’s really not as hard to beat debt as a lot of people make out.
Even though I decided to pants my first novel ever, I’m really a plotter by nature. I like to have a plan. I like to think it’s one of the things that makes me a good engineer. It’s part of who I am.
So I have no idea why I haven’t created a plan for my life until now. As Stephen Covey wrote in the 7 Habits of Highly Effecitve People:
Begin with the end in mind.
I’m still working my way through the book, but so much of it has made sense so far that I decided to stop and take some time to create this list as sort of a blueprint going forward.
